Tencent Looks To Acquire Larger Stake In Ubisoft


Per Reuters, Tencent Holdings is reported trying to increase its stake in French mega-publisher Ubisoft. That is along with the 5 % the Chinese language mega-conglomerate already owns within the firm.

Initially buying these shares in 2018, Tencent has reached out to the Guillemot household to supply an elevated stake in Ubisoft. Whereas it isn’t clear what Tencent is providing, it goals to be the most important shareholder of the French writer.

“Tencent could be very decided to nail down the deal as Ubisoft is such an essential strategic asset for Tencent,” sources informed Reuters.

The article goes on to say that if the deal goes via, Tencent might provide upwards of 100 euros per share. In 2018, Tencent paid 66 euros per share for its 5 % stake. At the moment, Ubisoft is valued at $5.3 billion whereas the Guillemot household owns a 15% stake within the enterprise underneath the Guillemot Corp.

Roughly 80 % of Ubisoft shares are owned by public shareholders and Tencent will possible purchase these shares from the general public to spice up its possession.

Ubisoft’s shares surged earlier as we speak after information broke from Reuters, leaping almost 21 %, a report final seen in 2004.
